Tour Description

Lake Roșu (Red Lake) and the Bicaz Gorges tell one of the richest visual stories in the Eastern Carpathians — a place where water, rock, and forest meet in a rare balance. At sunrise, we find ourselves on the shore of Lake Roșu, photographing fragile reflections interwoven with mist drifting across the water’s surface, while submerged tree trunks become graphic accents in an almost minimalist composition.

We then search for the best angles for minimalist photography or delicate frames of wild ducklings lined up on fallen tree trunks in the water, before crossing June meadows filled with wildflowers, where light shapes a living, colorful, and ephemeral landscape.

The tour continues through the forest above the Bicaz Gorges, growing on limestone and dominated by spruce, beech, fir, and pine — trees adapted to this harsh substrate. Finally, after an easy trek, we reach viewpoints where the Bicaz Gorges reveal themselves from above, in a grand spectacle of vertical cliffs and dramatic perspectives.

Optional extra day

Thursday, before the start of the tour, can be booked as an additional day with an extra charge. On this day, we will follow a moderate-difficulty hiking route above Lake Roșu.

Itinerary

• Day 0 – Optional extra day (additional fee applies)

• Day 1 – Meeting of participants, accommodation at guesthouse

• Day 2 – Sunrise on the shore of Lake Roșu, breakfast, exploration of the lake in search of minimalist compositions. Afternoon: easy trekking through meadows and forests above the gorges.

• Day 3 – Sunrise at Lake Roșu. Short tour in Bicazului Bicaz Gorges. End of the PhotoTOUR.

Payment deadlines

• Registration and deposit payment: until 01.06.2026

• Final payment: until 10.06.2026

Group size

• Maximum: 10 participants

• Minimum: 6 participants.

If fewer than 6 participants register, the PhotoTOUR may still take place, but the price will be recalculated accordingly.

Companions: The price for companions is the same as for participants.

Accommodation: 3-star guesthouse, double rooms.

Meals: Not included.

Transport

Transport to and from Lake Roșu will be provided by participants’ own cars. Local transport will also be organized using participants’ vehicles. Distances are short.

Payment method

Payment can be made by bank transfer to our account at Banca Transilvania. To secure a place, the initial deposit is required. Payment can be made in RON or EUR, at the NBR exchange rate on the payment day + 3% currency risk coefficient. After registration, participants will receive an email with tour details.
