We are Mihai and Ana Moiceanu — father and daughter, photographers united by a shared passion for imagery, nature, and a deep respect for traditions. As members of the Romanian Ecotourism Association (AER), our vision goes beyond taking pictures. We believe in responsible travel that protects biodiversity and honors local communities. Together, we transform every journey into an immersive experience where wildlife ethics and cultural depth are just as vital as the perfect light.
Mihai Moiceanu
A professional photographer since 1986 and a lifelong mountaineer, I have dedicated my career to exploring the bond between humanity and geography. With over 30 years spent documenting the Vaser Valley steam train and numerous conservation projects alongside environmental NGOs—from the European Bison reintroduction to brown bear habitat protection—I have learned that photography is a powerful tool for education and preservation.
As the founder of PhotoTOUR, Romania’s first specialized photo travel agency, I have led expeditions from the peaks of the Himalayas to the timeless villages of Maramureș. For me, photography is about "genius loci"—the spirit of the place—whether captured in a sweeping landscape or in the weathered hands of a traditional craftsman.
As an editorial writer, television producer, and photographer awarded in multiple photography and television competitions, I share my vision of photography as a means of discovery and understanding. I believe that by embracing the concept of “Travel Like a Photographer,” we learn to explore places, people, traditions, and cultures with greater depth and awareness through the photographer’s perspective.
Ana Moiceanu
A graduate of the National University of Theatre and Film (Cinematography), Ana brings cinematic rigor and a unique sensitivity for visual storytelling to the PhotoTOUR team. As a Director of Photography and photographer, she has played a key role in promoting Romania’s ecotourism destinations, highlighting the fragile link between nature and community. Ana looks for the "truthful" frame rather than just the "pretty" one, guiding participants to balance technique and emotion—whether capturing wildlife in the Danube Delta or documentary portraits in traditional settlements.

Ecotourism
PhotoTOUR is a member of the Ecotourism Association of Romania and promotes the principles and practices of ecotourism through all its activities.
Ecotourism means traveling responsibly in natural areas, supporting nature conservation in the destinations visited, and supporting local communities through tourism activities by using locally owned accommodation and food services. Ecotourism also means supporting local traditions by including and promoting them within tourism activities. It means having minimal impact on nature and treating the natural and cultural heritage of the visited areas with respect.
Photography is one of the most powerful ways of sharing information, and organizing photographic tours is one of the activities that helps promote ecotourism destinations, support local communities sustainably, and encourage the preservation of traditions.

TYPES OF ACTIVITIES
PhotoTOUR
Photographic tours in Romania and abroad, all selected based on the photographic potential of each destination. The tours are designed specifically for photography and differ from conventional tourism. The pace and itineraries are carefully chosen with this purpose in mind, because a photographer must immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a place, not simply check off tourist attractions. Throughout the tour, participants are guided in identifying and selecting subjects, choosing approaches, and solving technical challenges.
Masterclass
Designed for photographers with intermediate or advanced photography knowledge. The program takes place over 5 days and focuses on developing photographic skills in subject approach, refining shooting techniques, building a photographic story, advanced editing and post-processing, and finally case study and portfolio analysis resulting from the masterclass. It is a complex interactive process in which participants are involved in solving technical issues related to lighting, exposure, composition, editing, post-processing, and image analysis. The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 5.
Photo Workshop
Intended for those who wish to learn photography, regardless of their level of knowledge in the field, and beyond. Structured over 3 days, it includes theoretical sessions followed by practical field lessons, development of digital editing skills for the images created, portfolio evaluation, and continuous feedback.
Photography Teambuilding
An activity designed for companies wishing to diversify their teambuilding experiences through an activity that is engaging, challenging, and accessible to everyone. The teambuilding program can take place over one day or during a 3-day weekend, with either simple or more complex formats. Our teambuilding activities can be integrated into a larger program or organized as a standalone experience. Please contact us for programs and offers.
