Tour Description

A New PhotoTOUR Concept: Absolute Freedom and Pure Connection with the Mountain

This tour introduces a completely new philosophy for PhotoTOUR, built around absolute flexibility. To truly stay in sync with the weather and capture the perfect light, we are breaking away from classic travel patterns and adopting the overlanding lifestyle. We will live and sleep in cars, rooftop tents, or campervans, setting up camp right in the heart of the landscape or as close as possible to our shooting spots. This allows us to catch the last rays of sunset and the first colors of dawn right on location, without compromise or time wasted on commuting. A second essential element of this adventure is staying in remote mountain huts (rifugios)—a unique experience that puts us high up on the ridges during the golden hours. Because spots in these huts are limited, this tour is dedicated to a small, intimate group of just 5–6 people. It is an authentic expedition with a rugged level of comfort—where sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and your own food are part of the story—while traditional accommodations will serve strictly as a backup for bad weather or much-needed refresh breaks.

In October, the Dolomites shed their summer bustle and transform into Europe’s most grand open-air photography workshop. This is the moment when the spectacular larch forests explode into vibrant shades of yellow and orange, creating an surreal contrast with the vertical gray limestone walls. Mornings begin under a thick blanket of frost covering alpine meadows, while mist drifts lazily across the valleys, turning each massif into an island floating over seas of clouds. The October light has a distinct softness; the sun stays low on the horizon, casting long, dramatic shadows and accentuating the rugged textures of the peaks. Whether we are photographing the reflection of a rock tower in a perfectly still alpine lake or capturing the first light melting the frost on the golden larch needles, the Dolomites in this season are not meant to just be photographed, but lived with every breath in the crisp mountain air.
